Radcliffe enjoy derby day upset

LOWLY Radcliffe recorded only their second Lake Garage Central Lancashire League win of the season to dent Unsworth's title hopes.

Anwar ul-Haq was the star of the show in the local derby, hitting 56 runs and taking five wickets for 74 runs for Radcliffe.

Radcliffe made 195 runs and Unsworth were bowled out for 192 runs.

Radcliffe also played at fellow strugglers Werneth at the weekend.

They made 241 runs for the loss of eight wickets before Werneth scored 244-2. Osman Tariq top scored for Radcliffe with 117 runs.

In the Lees Brewery Lancashire County League, rock bottom Stand suffered an 18-run defeat at home to Woodbank while table-topping Prestwich got the better of third-placed Cheetham Hill and mid-table Roe Green.

They skittled Cheetham Hill for 211 runs after a Peter Walters half century had enabled Prestwich to post 220-5.

Walters was unbeaten on 70 the following day as Prestwich topped Roe Green's 119-9 with 121-9.
