Trial requests

26/ 6/2008

RUGBY UNION: A host of promising players from across the north west have contacted Sedgley Park Tigers asking for trials.

The Tigers will take a look at a number of them when they start pre-season training on Wednesday, July 2.

But they have rejected the chance of re-signing two former Sedgley players – hooker Richard Oxley and lock Ben Lloyd – due to the fact that they are already covered in those positions. As a result, the duo have both signed for Manchester.

Sedgley’s team manager Geoff Roberts says that the Tigers may look to re-sign those players in the future.

And he insists that the amount of trial requests that the club has received this summers confirms that they are ‘the biggest club in the north west after Sale Sharks’.

Meanwhile, Sedgley are busy trying to arrange friendly fixtures after Flyde pulled out of a proposed game.

The only pre-season match booked is Wharfedale away on Friday, August 15.
