Boro Gaz'umped by last-gasp goal
3/ 4/2008
RADCLIFFE Borough were ‘Gaz’umped by a last-minute goal from Curzon Ashton as they lost 3-2 on Tuesday night.
Boro had led 1-0 and 2-1 through goals from Forest and Steve Howson, but Ashton’s Gazapo stole the points for the visitors with a last gasp strike.
This followed Radcliffe’s 1-0 win over Rossendale on Saturday, courtesy of a goal from Connell.
Boro remain bottom of the UniBond First Division North but even if they remain there until the end of the season they are unlikely to be relegated as Newcastle Blue Star have applied to leave the league due to the amount of travelling they are forced to undertake.
Radcliffe host the team directly above them in the table – Woodley Sports – on Saturday, April 5, kick-off 3pm. They then visit mid-table Rossendale United on Tuesday, April 8, kick-off 7.45pm.
Meanwhile, Radcliffe’s director of football Peter Coyne admits that Howson has done far better than expected after netting 31 goals so far in his first season at UniBond level.
Howson has proved himself to be a hard worker and a deadly finisher.
