Rebels go goal-happy
1/11/2007
GOAL-happy FC United gave Bamber Bridge the Hallowe'en horrors as they ended their cup hoodoo with a 5-0 victory at Radcliffe.
Young midfielders Chris Baguley and Jerome Wright led the rout, giving Bamber a torrid time in a scintillating first-half of the UniBond League's President's Cup clash.
I dare say Bamber Bridge were sorry that the lights came back on ! F.C. certainly set about putting their lights out. All over after 20 minutes with F.C. 3 - 0 up. Another excellent display from what is essentially a young side. Chris Baguley is looking terrific in midfield, with awareness and vision belying his age. There are not many of his ability at this level, and the precision of his free - kicks is superb.
As for the team generally, who would have thought a few months ago that we would play title rivals without nine of last year's champions (Chadwick, Nugent Howard, Taylor, Mortimer, Giggs, Patterson, Rudd and Spencer) yet hammer them 5 - 0. The future is very bright indeed. Roll on Saturday at Bridlington !
