ON-LOAN Bury goalkeeper Mark Tyler is ‘delighted’ to have a chance to show what he can do again after being deprived of first team football at Peterborough in recent times.

The 31-year-old kept a clean sheet on his Bury debut against Barnet on Saturday after joining the club on a month-long loan deal.

And Tyler, who represented England under-20s at the 1997 World Youth Championship and has made more than 450 first team appearances in his 15-year stint at Posh, said: "I am delighted to be here. I have had a good rest after playing week in, week out for 10 years and all I want to do is play football now."

Bury manager Alan Knill was originally planning to sign Darren Randolph on loan from Charlton for the second successive season to cover for Wayne Brown’s thigh injury. And Knill insists that the capture of Tyler makes light of the Randolph deal having fallen through.

He said: "We are thankful to Peterborough for letting us have a keeper as experienced as Mark Tyler. He fitted the bill straight away.

"He knows the league so the goal keeping situation turned out okay in the end."
