Bishop: There is better to come

4/ 9/2008

SHAKERS striker Andy Bishop insists that Bury have yet to play to their full potential this season despite sitting pretty at the top of the League Two table.

But Bishop is delighted to see the Shakers playing a more attractive brand of football under manager Alan Knill and he is happy to be staying at the club until at least January after Knill’s fear of Bishop moving to a higher league club before the transfer window shut on Monday proved to be unfounded.

Bishop said: "We haven’t played to our full potential yet but it has been a nice start to the season.

"We are doing more attacking and playing a lot more free-flowing football. And we know that when we are playing well we can beat anyone in this league."

However, Bishop refused to get drawn into promotion talk.

He said: "Confidence is good here but it’s still early on in the season.

"If come after Christmas or towards the end of the season we are still up there we will start thinking about other things. But, at the moment, it is just a case of concentrating on trying to win every game that we play."
