Praise for Dawson

BURY manager Alan Knill believes that he has one of the best midfielders in League Two in Stephen Dawson.
The 22-year-old Irishman has made a mightily impressive start to his Bury career having joined the Gigg Lane club from Mansfield in the close season.
And Knill said: "Stephen has been doing very well for us but I expected that. I have been a big admirer of his for a long time."
At the end of last season, Knill told several people that he considered Dawson to have been the cream of the crop in terms of League Two midfielders in the 2007/08 campaign. He advised other managers to buy Dawson ‘if they had the money to do so’ but never believed that he could sign the player himself.
However, Knill by no means considers Dawson to be the finished product. Knill is convinced that he can improve the player and is currently working on his positioning.
Knill said: "Sometimes he can be all over the place and good teams will punish us for that. He needs to be more disciplined."
