Team ethic is key

4/ 9/2008

ALAN Knill says that the most pleasing aspect of Bury’s impressive start to the season is that the Shakers are playing like a ‘real team’.

Manager Knill said: "We are not a team of individuals. The players back each other up and that is really pleasing to see."

Knill, who was installed as manager when Bury were in a relegation battle in February, also credits a change in mentality for his Gigg Lane revolution.

He said: "The change in attitude came quickly – it had to otherwise we would have been struggling.

"It is a credit to the players that were here when I arrived and I knew that I would be bringing in players that already had the winning mentality – players that wanted to do better and prove people wrong.

"They gelled with the ones that were here and that’s carried on this season.

"Also, we did a fair bit of background on the players that we brought in so we know that they have something to prove."
