Knill happy to make his point

BURY boss Alan Knill was happy to leave Spotland with a point despite after conceding two penalties.

The Shakers lost their 100 per cent record in the league when they were held 1-1 by rivals Rochdale.

They were ahead after seven minutes when Dale goalkeeper Sam Russell punched the ball into his own net.

But Dale rescued a point when Adam LeFondre scored from the spot after a foul by Ben Futcher. Earlier, Wayne Brown had saved a Chris Dagnall penalty.

Despite being overtaken at the top by Dagenham & Redbridge and Shrewsbury, Knill was pleased to take a draw and felt it was a fair result.

"It keeps that unbeaten run here going so we're delighted with that," he said.

"Dale's first penalty was an unbelievably harsh decision on us, the second one was a stonewall penalty.

"We showed great resilience in the second half when they threw everything at us and I think if someone had offered us a point before kick off we'd have taken that.

"We've earned 10 points in the opening month from a possible 12, so it's been a fantastic start for us."
