'There's still hope'

BURY manager Alan Knill is hoping that the players he has released this summer can reignite their careers – just like he did after being released by Southampton as a 19-year-old.
Andy Parrish, Aaron Grundy, Jordan Stepien and Ben Leonard are just some of the youngsters to have been shown the door by the Gigg Lane club recently.
And Knill, who went on to have a 17-year career as a professional footballer following his Saints axing, would like nothing more than for the released players to prove him wrong.
He admits that being let go by a club is tough to take. But he insists that good footballers have the character to bounce back.
Knill believes that mental toughness is the key to released players getting their careers back on track.
And he says that he will keep track of the released players and do all that he can to help them find new clubs.
"Once they have left us that is not it," said Knill. "They stay in our system for a long time and I believe we have an obligation to keep an eye on what they do. We owe them that."
