Door is closed to new loan signings

ALAN Knill has ruled out making any more loan signings, insisting that he will ‘go with what he has got’ for the remainder of the campaign.

The Bury boss has also decided to hold fire with his search for an assistant manager until the end of the season.

But Knill will be a lot more pro-active in the coming weeks in terms of trying to sort out new deals for the players nearing the end of their contracts.

The Shakers have 13 players who will be out of contract in the summer, including highly promising midfielder Nicky Adams.

Knill said: "We have been speaking to the out of contract players but, with the threat of relegation hanging over our heads, we have not been able to come to any agreements yet.

"Once we are mathematically safe we will try to get deals done as soon as we can."

Knill will also soon put a call into Wolves manager Mick McCarthy as winger Elliott Bennett’s loan deal is due to run out on Tuesday, April 1.

Knill said: "We will be asking to keep Elliott until the end of the season.

"He has done very well for us but I can’t see him getting a game at Wolves so I am confident that we will be able to keep him."
