Double draw for Wayfarers

THERE was draw fever for Wilmslow Wayfarers as the first and second teams could only manage draws.
Wayfarers stated strongly in the field with Bruce (two for 24) making early inroads. However, it was the vital drop of Sandbach pro, Butt (77), that proved to be the turning point. Butt and Bhatti (55) helped the home side to declare at 237-4 off 45 overs.
In reply Hassard (42) was the backbone of the Wayfarers innings, while Atherton and skipper Unsworth gave them chance of victory. But they had to settle for a draw, with Sandbach only one wicket away from victory.
The second team had a dominating draw at the OFO. Batting first, they declared on 260-4.
Wirral’s batsmen dug deep and battled for a deserved draw with just seven wickets down.
