Prestwich pop star in the making

A YOUNG girl is stepping ever closer to her dream of stardom as she prepares to record her debut single next month.

Chloe Ward is one fourth of new girl group BlushaZ, who are hoping to make it big by sending off their song to Sony BMG, whose artists include The Ting Tings who are currently at number one in the album chart.

The 11-year-old has been working hard on the song ‘Here With BlushaZ’ to make her dream of pop stardom come true. Profits from sales of the single will be given to the cancer charity Christies.

Chloe, of Prestwich, said: "I’m so excited, I’ve been practicing hard every week. The song is quite poppy and catchy, it’s really easy to sing - we got it in about two minutes.

"We each sing a line in the verse and then we all sing the chorus. I really hope it does well because I want to make a lot of money for charity because they need it and I think they would like it."

BlushaZ will record their single in June at the Abraham Moss Centre and are trying to organise a gig for the summer where they will perform the song. The group have been receiving expert help from someone who has been in the pop business.

Leanne Brown, who was one half of Sweet Female Attitude who had a hit with Flowers in 2000, has been working with the girls on the single. She is a vocal coach at the Bright Sparks Drama Academy in Eccles which the girls all attend.

Chloe, a pupil at Butterstile Primary School, added: "Leanne has been working with us and she told us to feel free to express ourselves when we’re singing - like moving our arms around. She’s given us some really good tips."

The band were put together by academy boss Audrey Clark.

She said: "We think it could be a hit single. They’re doing such a good job with it."
