Ambassador pays a visit

THE newly appointed Ambassador of Israel, His Excellency Ron Proser, visited Prestwich as part of a tour of Britain.

He was accompanied by his team of Israeli diplomats, and met leaders of business, religion and education last Thursday.

He visited Manchester Town Hall, as well as attending a community lunch in Prestwich and visiting King David High School in Prestwich.

Ambassador Proser said: "Manchester is a city with excellent global connections.

"Israelis of all professions – students, researchers, businesspeople, artists and actors alike – would love the chance to build links and create partnerships in Manchester. It was the perfect place to start our national tour, and sets the standard for our future visits."

Ambassador Proser’s team, which includes commercial, cultural and public affairs representatives from the Israeli Embassy, met Christian, Muslim and Jewish representatives during the visit.

Meetings were also arranged with vice chancellors and lecturers of the universities of the region, theatres, trade, culture, and Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs.

Shmuel Ben Tovim, economic minister at the Israeli Embassy, said: "There is so much untapped opportunity for us in Manchester.

"We have many Israeli companies looking for opportunities to find UK partners. We are keen to explore practical channels of partnership."
